This marked the beginning of a profound spiritual journey that would shape the remainder of his life and service to Dīn.
Thereafter, he remained in the blessed company of his Shaykh for approximately twenty-seven years, benefiting from his guidance, instruction, and spiritual nurturing until the passing of Hazrat Sufi Muhammad Aslam in 1999. Throughout this period, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the pursuit of both outward and inward knowledge, combining practical service with rigorous spiritual discipline under the direct supervision of his master.
Over the course of nearly three decades of training and companionship, Shāykh Sufi Arshad Mahmood absorbed the teachings, methodology, and spiritual character of his Shaykh to such a degree that he came to be regarded as one of his most distinguished students and deputies. His life reflected the values, conduct, and teachings that he had inherited through years of dedicated service and close association with his spiritual guide.
Recognising his sincerity, steadfastness, and spiritual maturity, Hazrat Khwaja Sufi Muhammad Aslam entrusted him with the responsibility of guiding others upon the path. In time, Shāykh Sufi Arshad Mahmood became one of the foremost Khulafāʾ and authorised representatives of Qibla Ālam, carrying forward his mission and serving as a means of guidance for countless seekers.
